WHO: For all woodwind, and brass students.
REQUIREMENTS: *All levels, Aged 10 and up. *Must have your own instrument and music stand.

REQUIREMENTS: No experience necessary. Must have your own instrument and music stand.
JAZZ S'COOL

COST: $260
DATE: Monday, March 17th to Friday, March 21st
TIME: 5-8pm

WHO: Anyone who wants to have fun learning about and playing Jazz music. Ages 10+
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 2 years experience on your instrument. Must have your own instrument and music stand. Drums, pianos, and amps provided.

Emi graduated from Osaka University of Music, majoring in Voice and has her Junior High School Teacher Certificate in Japan. Emi also graduated Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s SEA program and holds an ECE Assistant Certificate along with a Special Ed Teacher Assistant Certificate. She believes that music can be a powerful form of stress relief and adapts her lessons according to each of her student’s unique strengths and weaknesses to ensure the experience remains positive and beneficial for each of her students. Emi's rate is $29.00 per half hour lesson.

Kyan is a passionate music teacher with a love for piano and voice, beginning her training at age 5. With experience in classical, jazz, pop, rock, and musical theatre, she brings a diverse musical background to her teaching. A dedicated musical theatre enthusiast, Kyan has performed in numerous productions and has written and produced musicals, earning a Leadership in Arts Award from the Canadian House of Commons. Her approach emphasizes well-rounded musicianship, including diverse repertoire, ear training, sight reading, theory, and songwriting. Kyan welcomes students of all ages and abilities, hoping to foster a lifelong love of music. Whether preparing for RCM exams, performing at open mics, or taking the stage in a musical, Kyan is dedicated to helping each student thrive.
Kyan’s rate is $28.00 per half hour lesson.

Marc’s been teaching at Long & McQuade since 2010. He teaches all genres, believing students will work harder if they’re playing music they love to play. He can teach RCM, and was a judge at the Victoria Conservatory of Music for graduating students in 2021. Marc joined Prism in 2010, playing large festival audiences and indoor theatres. He was with Doug and the Slugs and Nick Gilder before that. He also plays keyboards and sings with Stone Poets, recording their 5th album currently with Marc producing alongside West Coast Engineer of the year, Sheldon Zaharko. He’s the West Coast Director with the Canadian Musicians Coalition; a director at Pacific Northwest Radio and the writer/producer of the radio podcast. Nominated 4 years in a row for the BCCMA Keyboardist of the Year, he’s a sought after session player for recording and live performances. Marc’s rate is $33.00 per half hour lesson.

Maria is an accomplished piano teacher with a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from the University of Toronto and a Master’s degree from McGill University. She has studied with renowned professors, including Marina Mdivani, Marietta Orlov, Megan Chang, and Sergey Saratovsky. With six years of teaching experience and certifications in Ethnomusicology, Piano Pedagogy, and Music Therapy, she brings a well-rounded approach to her students. Maria has performed twice at Carnegie Hall and was a finalist in the Canadian Music Competition in 2017. In 2024, she won Third Place in the Charleston International Music Competition and Second Place in the New York International Music Competition. Maria's rate is $30.00 per half hour lesson.

Sande is a versatile instructor who covers a variety of styles including pop, rock, jazz, blues & classical, as well as piano theory & 'chording' techniques. Sande's diverse experience can satisfy all ages and skill levels and her patience, creativity & clear communication make her lessons a pleasure. In addition to teaching, she is also a seasoned performer. Lessons for ages 4 & up. Sande's rate is $32.00 per half hour lesson.

Sandra has her Diploma of ABRSM from Malaysia. She received a Diploma in Classical Studies from Capilano University. She also has her License in ECCE with training in inclusive practice and infant & toddler care. Her musical talents include songwriting, arranging and improvisational techniques for 3 instruments. She is open to teaching the basics of digital records or assisting with simple recording. A huge part of her music teaching experience has involved training her piano, voice and flute students for RCM practical and theory exams. Her passion for Classical music has extended her interest in different musical genres over the years. She coaches in different genres that include Jazz and popular styles in music. Sandra's rate is $30.00 per half hour lesson.

Violinist and pianist Sarab Shamoun is a passionate, professional musician who graduated with a Teaching Diploma in Music and BMUSed from Al Baath University. She has more than 7 years of experience as a music teacher in public and private schools. Her teaching philosophy is “Believing, Achieving and Serving.” As an educator, she feels that it is important that she is not just setting challenges for herself but also strive to be a positive role model for her students. Sarab has experience teaching students of all ages and levels, as well as students who have special needs. Sarab’s rate is $32.00 per half hour lesson.
